Insecurity has attained a choking level in Nigeria as abduction and numerous killings by unknown gunmen are increasing daily. Bandits kidnapping students and holding them as hostages in exchange for a ransom persists.
The vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the People’s Democratic Party, Peter Obi has advised the government to seek foreign help on the ongoing insecurity crisis increasing in the country on daily basis.
He said all Nigerians, irrespective of party and other affiliations, should immediately join hands to tackle the spectre of insecurity, poverty and unemployment that are now ruling and ruining the country.
“We are fast becoming a failed state. We cannot allow the downward spiral to continue. The government should also urgently seek foreign help”, he said.

Many Nigerians have reacted to the statements made by the former Vice Presidential candidate on the idea of inviting foreign help to tackle the insecurity issues in Nigeria.
Dear Mr. Peter, please lead this national reconciliation and rebirth of our dear country.. tweeting about this is good but not good enough.. we need actions to match our words..
Efforts should be geared towards proffering lasting solutions. How be it, this rests on the shoulders of the citizens, most particularly the enlightened ones.
However, any observed failure of the citizens to rise up to this daunting challenge will delegate such role to the political elites who will leverage on such vacuum to once again dictate where the pendulum swings.Incompetence should not be repeated this time around.
