American R&B Star Jessel Powel Confirmed Dead At Age 51 By Sister Tamara Powel

Tamara Powell, Jesse’s sister, has confirmed that he passed away quietly at his Los Angeles home.

The song “You,” which was first released in 1996 and then re-released two years later, peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Mr. Powell was an R&B musician originally from Indiana.

As she delivered the news to fans, Ms. Powell shared a tribute and informed the artist had passed away at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 51.

She wrote: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Jesse Powell.

‘He passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home. The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy.

‘Jesse loved music and he especially loved his fans who supported him throughout his career. We want you all to know that you meant the world to him. – The Powell Family.’

The reason of death for Mr. Powell, the older brother of the vocalists Trina and Tamara Powell, is still unclear.

Later, Ms. Powell posted a video of her brother singing and remarked, “That voice! You were the finest big brother ever, in addition to being one of the best R&B male vocalists ever.
