A chimp was captured on tape masturbating using a plastic bottle as a sex toy, a first for wild animals utilising human objects for pleasure, according to specialists.
In Bulindi, Uganda, two researchers, Matthew McLennan and Kim van Dijk, made the finding while observing Araali, a sexually mature wild chimpanzee.

As demonstrated by a recent video of gorillas having oral sex in front of astonished zoo visitors, primates are known to participate in sexual behaviour similar to humans (read here).
Experts, on the other hand, believe that Araali’s behaviour has never been seen before.
Araali relaxes in the shade of the bush and picks up a white empty plastic bottle, which is thought to be a discarded herbicide container used by local farmers, according to the footage included in their study.
After that, the chimp is shown putting his penis into the bottle’s aperture and “copulating” with it against a shrub limb. Araali pushes her hand inside the bottle for a few seconds before pulling it out and studying it.
The primate’s relaxed open-mouth face while performing pelvic thrusting movements into the bottle implies his masturbatory behaviour was “pleasurable” or “pleasant,” according to the researchers.
He also sniffs his finger before putting his penis in the bottle.
