Hints Shows Tony Elumelu Settled The Rift Between Burna Boy And Davido

Odogwu popularly known as Burnaboy had attempted to put aside all differences between himself and Davido after he revealed on his stories that he has no issues with Davido

According to Nigerian music journalist, Sam Mac George, Tony Elumelu is probably responsible for the peace development between Burna Boy and Davido.

“Although nothing has been said yet by either Davido or Burna Boy, I expect words from either of them, except if this is a mere coincidence.

“The trio of Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid attended but performed separately at TOE Magical Christmas, a Christmas party organized by Tony Elumelu on 24th December 2021.


“A day after that, Psquare held the Reactivated Concert as their first show and first performance together since they separated four and half years ago.

“During their performance on stage at the Reactivated Concert at Livespot x Festival, Psquare apologized on their knees to their fans for breaking apart and named Tony Elumelu as the man behind their reunion.

Who Is Tony Elumelu

Tony Elumelu, though a business mogul, receives reverence from entertainers, especially music acts. On a 2019 song titled Oil and Gas, Olamide is heard in one of the lines of his lyrics inviting Elumelu to dance with him, thus; “Tony Elumelu/Wá bá mi jó sílù”.

Anthony Onyemaechi Elumelu, 58 years old, is the current Chairman of UBA after retiring as a worker of the bank in 2010. He also chairs Heirs Holding, Transcorp and The Tony Elumelu Foundation.

He holds two national honours, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) — his latest honor being his appearance on TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020. Elumelu, married to Awele Vivien Elumelu since 1993, is originally from Delta State but was born in Plateau State, Jos.

He studied Economics at the Bendel State University (now known as Ambrose Alli University). He obtained a BSc and a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos. Elumelu worked in the Nigerian Bank Union Bank as a member of the National Youth Service Corps in 1985. Afterwards, he went on to start his career as a salesman.

In 1997, Elumelu took over a struggling Crystal Bank (later renamed Standard Trust Bank) with a group of investors. Within a few years, the bank became successful and in 2005, he acquired United Bank for Africa (UBA).

After merging Standard Trust Bank and United Bank for Africa in 2005, Elumelu led the company as Group Managing Director from a single-country banking group to a pan-African bank with several branches in 20 African countries, France, the US and the UK. He however stepped down in 2010 at 47.
