Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a media figure, simply shared a tweet expressing his desire for a specific time, and because Twitter decided to report that he made the message from an Android phone, a presumably affluent iPhone user mocked him.
Recall that the media personality is a brand ambassador to a giant tech company, Samsung, so it was easy for him to defend android users.
The Tweet Source Label is a feature of the Twitter app that reveals how a post was created, and when Ebuka’s revealed that it was created on an Android device, a tweep quoted his tweet in a likely attempt to degrade him, writing “so you are using Android lol.”
Using an Android phone is associated with being “poor” or having bad taste among most Nigerians, yet this has proven to be a ridiculous stigmatization over time, as the media celebrity demonstrated while responding to the user.
Ebuka informed the user that, despite the fact that he uses an Android, he does so with models that are likely to be enough to purchase three iPhones at a time. He stated that he uses Samsung’s newest flagship gadgets, the S22 Ultra and Z Fold 3.
A brief look at the costs of these gadgets reveals that they cost more than one million Naira and are close to two million Naira. Ebuka subdued a presumably stupid tweep once more by utilizing his Android phone.
