Today, November 3, a group of Nigerian comedians, including Taooma, Josh2funny, Woli Agba, and others, made a courtesy call to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which has sparked social media discussion.
Bimbo Daramola, the organization’s promoter, led the comedians, who are members of the Nigeria Skits Industry Awards (NSIA).

During the visit, Osinbajo praised their abilities and ingenuity, claiming that no comic in the world compares to Nigerian comedians.

Osinbajo stated in a statement posted by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, that;

“I strongly believe that what our young people are doing and what they are capable of is what will lead our country to where we are meant to be.

The future is not tomorrow. It is already here and we can see it from just everything you are doing, the global acclaim that you are getting; young people like yourselves, doing something good.

I think that we have incredible talent and we must do something about it, to enable these talents and we must ask ourselves questions on setting realistic goals that can enable these talents flourish.

I must say that just based on the sheer creativity around this, I don’t think that anybody anywhere is as funny as Nigerian comedians.

Nigerians react

The visit, however, has elicited varied comments on social media, with some users criticising the comedians for paying a visit to the vice president.

Some people also noted out that Mr Macaroni, a comedian and campaigner, was not among the delegates and praised him for it.
