Jose Mourinho has agreed on a contract with Roma until the end of the 2024 season.
Former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was sacked recently at Tottenham after having a bad season in the premier League. The manager also struggled to make the top four position which makes it difficult for his team to qualify for the Champions League and Europa League.
However, AS Roma officially confirmed that the former Tottenham boss has become their new head coach.
Recall that, Roma had before declared openly on their that Paulo Fonseca, the current head coach will depart at the end of the season.
In a statement said by Mourinho said:
“Thank you to the Friedkin family for choosing me to lead this great club and to be part of their vision.
“After meetings with the ownership and Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for AS Roma. It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.
“The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season.
“In the meantime, I wish Paulo Fonseca all the best and I hope the media appreciate that I will only speak further in due course. Daje Roma!”
Why? His style fits Italian football. The perfect move for him to try rebuild whatever reputation he may have lost over the years.
If I am not mistaken, I remember him turning down an offer from Roma prior to his United tenure, comes full circle.
