Young Boys vs Man Utd: Ronaldo equals Messi’s record

Cristiano Ronaldo, the current Manchester United striker, tied Lionel Messi for the most Champions League goals on Tuesday.
Young Boys were defeated in the 13th minute by Ronaldo, who scored the game’s first goal.

Only Messi has scored against as many different opponents in the Champions League.
In addition, Ronaldo has matched Iker Casillas’ Champions League appearance record.

The 36-year-old was chosen to start the game by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, and it was Ronaldo’s 177th appearance in the tournament.

With 135 goals, the Portugal captain is the competition’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 17 in 2013/2014 being the highest in a single season.

With a total of 67 goals outside of the group stage, Ronaldo has the most knockout-round goals of any player.
